Mainly because of the Women’s EURO 2009 -tournament, Helsinki Finnair Stadium is covered with natural grass for the rest of the season. Temporary surface will be removed in November meaning that also the HJK’s first team will play on it after the EURO 2009.
At the moment all of the installation work is done. Before the new grass is playable it must root strong. First game on the new grass is HJK’s UEFA Europa League 1st round home game against either Lithuanian Vétra or Luxembourgish Grevenmacher on 23rd of July.
After the Women’s EURO 2009 -tournament HJK will play all of its home games on Finski before the removal of the surface after the season ending in November.
